Conference
Host: Rev. Mary-Grace Jnr. Masarakufa MA Theology
She is the hosting pastor of The Interceders’ Conference. She is the
pastor of Power Arena. A church in the Borough of Barking and
Dagenham. She is also the founder of CHIEDZA, a department in the
Church, which has been set up to offer counselling, prayers and
support to people in need, where ever they may be.

Dr Achim Schwenk MD PD DTMH FRCP
He trained in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases in Cologne,
Germany. He has looked after HIV positive patients since 1989. His
clinical research focused on the link between infection (TB and HIV)
and nutrition. In 1999, he became Clinical Research Fellow at St
George's Hospital Medical School, followed by a consultant post in
Infectious Diseases at the Royal Free Hospital. Since 2003 he is a
Consultant in HIV Medicine at North Middlesex Hospital in North
London.

Jon
Cruddas MP
He has been the Member of Parliament for Dagenham since his election
in 2001. He has become well known for campaigning against the
far-right BNP and on issues such as the need for more social housing
and a living wage. He recently stood for the Deputy Leadership of
the Labour Party, as the only backbencher against five Cabinet
Ministers. He received the most votes in the first round, and came
third in the contest overall. Before entering Parliament, he worked
for trade unions and the Labour Party in Opposition, before serving
as Deputy Political Secretary at 10 Downing St during Labour’s first
term in office.

Professor Robert J. Pratt CBE FRCN RN MSc BA DN(Lond)
Professor of Nursing and Director of the Richard Wells Research
Centre at Thames Valley University. He is the immediate past
President of the Infection Control Nurses Association, Patron of the
National HIV Nurses Association and a Fellow of the Royal College of
Nursing. During the last several years, Robert has directed
international World Health Organization and British Council
educational and action research projects focused on increasing the
confidence and competence of doctors and nurses in caring for
patients with HIV disease and tuberculosis in India, Africa, and the
Arabian Gulf. In 2003, he was appointed a Commander in the Order of
the British Empire for his contribution to HIV education and
research in nursing.

Rev.
Elias Mc. Moyo
Rev. Elias is an Executive Board Chair of the Brethren In Christ
Church-UK, Anthropologist, HIV Activist, and a Theologian. He is the
founder of Zhomba Aids Care and Education. He conduct Seminars on
HIBV/Aids across London, and services as a consultant with other
organisations on cultural issues and ill health amongst the African
communities. As a theologian, he challenges religious leaders and
the church of God to move towards a new HIV/AIDS Theology.

Dr Edwin M. Mapara - BScHb MBChB DTM&H DLSHTM MSc
He is a medical doctor and Public Health Specialist in the
management of HIV/AIDS in developing countries. With over twenty
years HIV/AIDS experience in Zambia, Botswana, South Africa & now
UK. He uses colour images to teach audiences in HIV/AIDS prevention,
care and support initiatives. He is working with Community Health
Action Trust (CHAT) based at Brent, London. Dr Mapara has shared
experiences with students and staff at Cambridge University, Thames
Valley University (TVU), London School of Hygiene and Tropical
Medicine (LSHTM) & several Black Minority & Ethnic (BME)
communities, especially the faith communities.

Dr Jeanette Meadway
She is a specialist doctor who has been working in the HIV field
since the early 1980s at Newham General and Mildmay Hospitals in
east London. She is involved in HIV training in other countries and
since January 2006 has run courses and teaching sessions in
Tanzania, Uganda, Lesotho, and Jamaica. Jeanette is also an
ordained priest in the Church of England and minister-in-charge of a
small but growing congregation in Stratford, London E15. During her
HIV training sessions abroad she is welcomed to preach in local
cathedrals and churches on Sundays. Jeanette coordinated the group
producing the leaflet, “Prayer or Medicines – must there be a
choice”.

Major
Nigel Schultz
He grew up in London in Leytonstone. In The Salvation Army he learnt
to play Brass Instruments and Sing but also ran a Youth Club from
the age of 16. He worked for Midland Bank for 5 years before
entering Bible College. He has now been a Salvation Army minister
(Officer) for 22 years. During that time he has worked in Northern
Ireland, Bangladesh, Ghana, and is now back in UK. In 1993 he was
part of the London Chalk Farm Oasis Aids HIV drop-in Centre. In
Ghana from 1998-2001 he was involved in funding some of the
Salvation Army Clincs, Hospitals, Street Girls and AIDS HIV
programmes. He is now in Barking working for The Salvation Army. He
is President of Barking Rotary Club, Treasurer for The Faith Forum
and very much involved in the community of Barking and Dagenham.

Walter Gillgower
He is the manager of the National African HIV Prevention Programme (NAHIP)
a Department of Health funded project within the African HIV Policy
Network (AHPN). Coordinating an England-wide partnership of
voluntary sector agencies providing health promotion to African Men,
Women and Children. Before that Walter led on the development of a
National African Health Promotion Team at THT. He has vast
experience of dealing with the sexual health needs of black migrants
and has contributed to the health promotion services development of
the various groups at policy, service development and service
delivery levels for the past twelve years.

David J.N. Musendo
He works with the London Ecumenical AIDS Trust (LEAT), as a Project
Coordinator of the African Communities Project. David’s main remit
of work includes supporting faith communities in their response to
HIV & AIDS in South East London. He has worked and supported several
frontline communities in HIV & AIDS prevention, care and support
programmes for 10 years. With his hands-on experience both as an
implementer and facilitator at various levels, David brings
invaluable skills to work with African Communities in the UK. His
research for his thesis focussed on the challenges faced in scaling
up faith based HIV prevention interventions for African communities
in London.

Dr
Wole Olarinmoye MBBS, MRCGP
He qualified as a medical doctor from University of Ibadan Nigeria
in 1995 and completed his training as a GP in 2004 here in the UK.
He is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and
practices in Kent. Beyond his medical background, Wole has been
actively involved in ministry from his university days where he was
involved in teaching, intercession, outreach and even the singing
ministry. He currently heads the Warfare and Intercessory Team the
prayer arm of New Wine Church which has about 130 members. He
believes we are all Blessed to be a Blessing, Delivered to be
Deliverers and Saved to be Saviours.

Mr
Benjamin Takavarasha
Mr Benjamin Takavarasha is the Editor of the Catholic Community Newsletter.
He is also an occasional Columnist of The Zimbabwean Newspaper. He
is the catechist in his parish. He featured and is included in the
Catholic Universe Encyclopaedia as one of the leading Catholic
poets. He is also a member of the London citizens.

Noel
Robinson
Noel Robinson is a towering presence who refuses to be boxed in by
the narrow expectations and petty prejudices of the religious
spirit. This softly spoken Londoner is an acclaimed guitarist who
has made inroads into the mainstream working with stars like Chaka
Khan, East 17 and Mica Paris yet who has a heart for ministry
delighting in encouraging congregations to make the divine
connection. He is an award winning performer of Afro Caribbean
gospel yet he's worked with numerous white artists like Graham
Kendrick & Matt Redman. And possibly most important of all he's
built a bridge between black and white church cultures by
demonstrating that a praise and worship leader is a relevant
ministry for ALL church goers. Noel Robinson and his group Nu Image
are on the threshold of yet more achieving.

Muyiwa Olarewaju
He is a Praise and Worship Leader who is regularly invited to lead
worship in churches across the UK, Africa and Europe. And is now
regularly heard across the country and indeed the world on Premier
Radio, where he presents Gospel Tonight' & ‘Worship Tonight'. During
the past 18 months Muyiwa has supported artistes like Ron Kenoly,
Karen Clark-Sheared, Michelle Williams of Destiny Child, Fred
Hammond & Radical For Christ, Donnie McClurkin and has featured on
‘Something Beautiful', Graham Kendrick current album. He has also
led worship at a number of high profile UK events including Easter
People; Soul in the City - a major evangelistic outreach in London;
The Festival of Life, a bi annual 20,000 prayer gathering, Ruach
Ministries New Year Celebration and Ichthus Fellowship int.
convention 'Revive'.

Dr
Martha Chinouya
She is a social scientist from the London Metropolitan University.
She has led research projects funded by various research councils
including the ESRC, the Nuffield foundation, social service
departments and PCTs, which focused on African populations in the UK
and in Africa. She was the co-ordinator of the benchmark studies
that explored the sexual behaviours of migrant Africans in England
(project Mayisha 1), those diagnose positive (project Padare) the
disclosure of HIV amongst sexual partners (project Chiware). She has
particular research interests in the trans-national African family,
religions, gender and generations, HIV, ethics and rights. She is
currently investigating the disclosure of HIV amongst faith groups
in Zimbabwe (project Taurai). She has also investigated the roles of
religion in conflict, examined the lives of young parents in refugee
camps in Northern Uganda. Recent she contributed on religions,
migration rights and health on women of faith leadership in HIV and
AIDS, the view of Christians on HIV in Zimbabwe and Luton.
